~ Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association (DNDA) is a non‐profit organization devoted to social,  racial and environmental justice. ~

We are dedicated to preserving and increasing affordable housing for a range of incomes, enhancing the natural environment, and providing such vital resources as arts and cultural opportunities, education, youth programs and access to healthy food for our neighbors. Our programs for affordable housing and wetlands restoration have become models for other communities. 

We rely on donor support to help fund the programs that build and sustain a dynamic Delridge community.

Position Overview

In order to further our forest restoration and environmental education efforts, we are hiring an AmeriCorps member to assist DNDA’s Nature Consortium program in increasing the amount of local residents who participate in our forest restoration programming, as well as engaging local youth in environmental education and EcoArts activities.

Environmental Engagement Coordinator will support the work of the Urban Forest Restoration Team, EcoArts Team and Wetland Stewardship Team to advance the preservation of natural Seattle greenspaces including the West Duwamish Greenbelt and Longfellow Creek watershed.

Responsibilities

  • Members will perform volunteer outreach, recruitment and coordination as well as conduct volunteer-based forest restoration efforts while engaging with community members and partners.
  • Additionally, members will assist with youth-centered, educational and creative environmental programming that is inspired by, made from or created in nature.
  • Examples of this youth programming could include reflective writing, constructing a model urban forest, or identifying and illustrating native plants.
