Position Overview

Cypress Creek Renewables is seeking a motivated candidate for a Director of Development. This position would direct report to the Vice President of Development Operations. As a Leader in the Development group, this position requires managing 1-3 regional project managers and their teams who manage the day to day development activities using cloud-based document management and relational databases. The portfolios of solar projects include projects in various stages of development across the continental United States between 2-80MW AC throughout the 6-24 month development and construction cycle of each project. 

Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible to personally manage high profile solar projects, support improving internal process improvement, system integration, and communication with senior executives. 

An effective candidate will demonstrate sound industry knowledge, bring a valuable network, demonstrate superior leadership and communication skills, hand have the ability to focus on the details while maintain a view of the big picture. Responsibilities

Essential functions of the position include, but, are not limited to: 

  • Managing 1-3 regional project managers for the execution of solar project development deliverables
  • Leading and mentoring project managers by exemplifying innovative, but sound analytical decision making
  • Support hiring and creating and maintain staffing plans for 1-3 regional solar markets
  • Continuous solar development process improvement
  • Support VP of Development in reporting Development status across all regions to the Sr. Executive Team
  • Negotiating with land owners for the execution of land agreements
  • Prioritizing and coordinating key development deliverables with internal environmental, regulatory, and zoning teams as well as external consultants
  • Leading project managers on the completion of important late stage development milestones with real estate, finance and construction teams
  • Coordinating the timely completion of site analyses, environmental, zoning, utility, real estate, and engineering development deliverables
  • Maintaining key project data using cloud-based document management and relational databases
  • Building strategic relationships with development partners and project sellers
  • Travel (8-10 times per year) to visit project sites and other Cypress offices

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • Energy, real estate, engineering, or business related Master’s degree is a plus
  • 5+ year’s work experience in energy, environmental, engineering, or consulting industries
  • A deep understanding of solar project finance and the solar project market
  • Strong work ethic and ability to self-start in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organization, communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to modify course in real-time in response to fluid facts and circumstances.
  • Ability to oversee, manage, and lead 3+ employees in a dynamic and rapidly changing industry
  • Demonstrated ability to work on a team and interact daily with a variety of groups: development, finance, legal, and engineering, procurement and construction.
  • Pertinent team or personnel management experience
