Response Manager

~ Environmental Management Specialists, Inc. (EMS) is a professional environmental contractor specializing in environmental cleanup and site remediation, emergency spill response, waste and industrial services, demolition, tank removal and installation and environmental construction. ~

We provide these services with our experienced and highly qualified project managers, technicians and equipment operators to a wide variety of customers, including environmental consultants, energy companies, industrial facilities, commercial property owners/developers, general contractors, public entities and other environmental service companies.  

Position Overview

EMS is currently seeking a Response Manager. The qualified candidate will have experience (3-5+ years) preferably in the Emergency Response or Industrial Services industry.  Experience working on Hazardous Waste Spills preferred.  

Responsibilities 

• The Response Manager will be responsible for running the location’s Emergency Response (ER) activities on a day-to-day basis with support from the Environmental Services Operations Manager and EMS Dispatch team 
• Support EMS Safety Culture, Purpose and Core Values
• Staff Management
• Manage staff to include full time and hourly on-call staff
• Ensure 24/7 coverage
• Provide training, coaching, mentoring, and direction to ER staff
• Implement program for staff performance management and development
• Work with Environmental Health & Safety to maintain training records for ER staff
• Maintain EMS policies
• Work with Human Resources to address employee relations issues in a timely manner
• Assist Branch Manager with targeted financial management activities
• Maintain the ER trailer and support equipment to be ready at a moment’s notice
• Support implementation of ER Program Quality Initiatives
• Support scheduled Environmental Services work, when appropriate
• Receive scheduled assignments from Operations Manager or Dispatch
• Staff projects
• Coordinate with other EMS locations to ensure projects will be covered appropriately
• Work with EMS clients to ensure all projects are completed on time and within budget
• Work with ER teams across EMS to share best practices and focus on client satisfaction
• Communicate with Sales & Marketing to maintain ongoing project opportunities and adjust to market trends
• Serve as operational point of contact for selected clients to maintain consistent correspondence channel
• Ensure the safekeeping of EMS equipment, vehicles, supplies, staff / company confidential information Increase personal knowledge and expertise in business, appropriate technology, etc.
• Assist achievement of the profitability goals/objectives of the division/branch and organization
• Other duties as assigned by management 

Qualifications

• High School Diploma plus 3-5+ years of work experience in the Environmental Services industry
• 3 or more years of experience preferably in a company that bills time and expenses
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to prioritize tasks and exercises independent judgment
• Strong problem solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• OSHA HazWoper 40 hour certification
• OSHA 10 hour, and CPR/First Aid (preferred)
• Valid driving license (clean driving record) – prefer Class B or A CDL license
• DOT medical card, preferred
• Familiar with physical and chemical hazards typically encountered in the industry
• Heavy Equipment Operation (excavator, backhoe, skid steer, etc.) experience preferred
