Position Overview

Will be a member of the Environmental Restoration Group, supporting ongoing soil, groundwater, and vapor intrusion investigations at NASA Ames Research Center.

Responsibilities

Duties include:

  • The collection of soil, groundwater and indoor / outdoor air samples.
  • Conducting environmental site inspections.
  • Assisting with the operation, maintenance, monitoring and sampling of existing groundwater treatment systems and monitoring / extraction well networks.
  • Supporting a variety of ongoing field investigation and remediation efforts.

Qualifications

  • BS in environmental engineering, geology, related discipline, or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of experience in environmental field investigations and sampling efforts with soil, groundwater, and air.
  • Must have knowledge of the operation and maintenance of water parameter testing equipment and soil / groundwater / air sampling equipment.
  • Must have a high degree of mechanical aptitude and demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be a detail-oriented team player willing to support diverse environmental program responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of EPA chemical analytical methods and Federal, State of California, and local environmental laws, regulations and standards a plus.
  • Requires efficient verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Must have the ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work for extended periods in the field under various weather conditions.
  • 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOPER) certification or the ability to become certified is required.
  • Must be able to pass a Federal background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS and environmental database software, preferred.
  • Must be a US Citizen or a Permanent Resident and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.
