Project Director

~ The Mackenzie Water Initiative is a collaborative Indigenous-led project that intends to develop a unified Treaty 8 position on water, implement multi-jurisdictional water management agreements, apply regional water management tools, and reform water governance through moving to a collaborative consent model for co-governing the Mackenzie River Basin watershed. ~

The intended impact of this initiative is the conservation, healing, and protection of the Mackenzie’s waterways and watersheds – which are increasingly threatened by resource extraction, development pressures, and climate change.

Achieving these big-picture and long-term goals will require a multi-year collaborative effort between Indigenous nations, provincial and federal governments, communities, NGOs, industry, and philanthropic organizations.

Mackenzie Water Initiative, a project of Tides Canada, is seeking a Project Director to support and help raise funds for a partnership that engages eNGOs, First Nation communities, and funders in developing an innovative, Indigenous-led approach to watershed governance. The Project Director will work closely with a Steering Committee, and the Indigenous partners and advisors who provide oversight to this initiative.
