Western Geopower to Build 25.5MW Powerplant

Western GeoPower Corp., a renewable energy company focused on geothermal energy development, announced its intention to build a 25.5 megawatt power plant at The Geysers Geothermal Field located 75 miles north of San Francisco. The plant is projected to commence operations in late 2009 and will be called Western GeoPower Unit 1. It will supply about 200,000 MW of baseload electricity to the California market. Total development costs, including power plant, gathering system, transmission system, administrative and finance charges, have been estimated at US$90 million. Western GeoPower has launched efforts to secure funding for the entire field and plant development. On September 26, 2006, California adopted a new Renewables Portfolio Standard (RPS) that requires regulated utilities to produce at least 20% of their electricity supply from renewable energy by 2010, advancing the goal from 2017. Western GeoPower has submitted power sales bids in response to Requests For Proposals issued by several California utilities that are expected to conclude Power Purchase Agreements early in 2007. EarthShell Signs Agreement with Sodexho

Enterprise Rent-A-Car to Plant 50M Trees in 50 Years

To mark its 50th anniversary, Enterprise Rent-A-Car has pledged the unprecedented gift of 50 million trees to The National Arbor Day Foundation. Enterprise will underwrite the planting of 50 million trees over the next 50 years at a total cost of $50 million in today’s dollars. The pledge signifies a long-term commitment to help restore national forests that have been destroyed by fire, disease and to re-build natural habitats. The first trees – several small White Pines – were planted in the Mark Twain National Forest in southern Missouri. “This gift couldn’t come at time of greater need,” said John Rosenow, President of The National Arbor Day Foundation. “Last year was the worst forest fire season in history. And unfortunately, 2006 is on pace to be even worse. Toyota Begins Production of Hybrids in Kentucky

Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK)(NYSE: TM) celebrated the production launch of the Camry Hybrid today – Toyota’s first hybrid vehicle produced in North America. The addition of hybrid production represents a $10 million investment at TMMK, which will build approximately 48,000 Camry Hybrid vehicles per year. TMMK was established in 1986 and is Toyota’s largest plant in North America. It employs approximately 7,000 team members and currently builds the Camry, Avalon and Solara. The plant has the capacity to build 500,000 vehicles annually. Since its inception, TMMK has built about 6.7 million vehicles, and the plant’s current investment is $5.4 billion. “America’s hybrid leader now sells a Camry hybrid made in America,” said Don Esmond, Toyota Motor Sales senior vice president, Automotive Operations. The Camry Hybrid joins a growing Toyota and Lexus hybrid lineup in the U.S., which currently includes the Toyota Prius, Lexus RX 400h luxury hybrid sport utility vehicle (SUV), Toyota Highlander Hybrid mid-size SUV, and the 2007 Lexus GS 450h hybrid luxury sedan. In 2007, Lexus will be adding the LS 600h to the hybrid lineup. Since Toyota began selling hybrid vehicles in North America in 2000, the company has sold approximately 420,000 hybrid vehicles here.
