Conergy to Distribute Day4Energy Solar Modules

Conergy has reached an agreement to become a key North American channel partner for Day4’s high efficiency solar modules. The agreement guarantees at least 2 MW of modules for calendar year 2007 and considerably more for 2008. Day4 modules are produced with proprietary technology that results in high module efficiency at an economical price. The majority of Day4 solar modules, which are manufactured in Canada, have been allocated to the European market where feed-in tariffs create consumer demand for high efficiency modules. “Our business strategy has been to carefully select channel partners and build long-term strategic relationships. Conergy’s global reach, entrepreneurial spirit and customer-focused business model make them a highly desirable partner to achieve our business goals,” said Jake Brown, Vice-President of Marketing and Business Development at Day4 Energy. Conergy’s supply of primarily black-frame 170w, 175w and 180w modules (this denotes the STC rating) is available to authorized installers. Customer feedback about the modules’ price and performance relative to competitive brands has been extremely positive. “The Day4 modules are a good fit in the Conergy photovoltaic portfolio. The black frame and uniformity of the module surface create an aesthetically pleasing module for residential and architecturally sensitive applications. Day4 has achieved […]

Phoenix Solar AG to Build System for British Investor

Phoenix Solar AG, which went by the name of Phonix SonnenStrom AG until mid-June, is to build a solar electricity plant for the first time for a British investor. Consensus Business Group (CBG) – the London-based direct investor – is to buy a turnkey photovoltaic plant from Phoenix Solar with a peak power output of 3 megawatt (MW). The site chosen for the plant is Longuich near Trier in Germany. “In our view, renewable energies are an extremely high-growth market, and we have already invested more than USD 500 million in our technology programme. More funds totalling an annual USD 250 million are to follow. We are delighted that such a reputable company as Phoenix Solar AG is to partner us in the 3 MW photovoltaic project in Longuich. “We intend to realise more projects together with Phoenix Solar AG in the future as well”, commented Vincent Tchenguiz, Chairman of CBG. Burgerservice gGmbH, a company located in Trier, had already had the idea of constructing a photovoltaic plant in Longuich more than a year ago. It developed the project which has now been handed over to the investor. The owner of the surface area which comes to 13 hectares is […]

U.S. Mayors Champion the Greening of America's Schools

If mayors from across the country have their way, every child in America will be attending a green school within a generation. In a move to better support the health and well-being of America’s students, the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM), which represents more than 1,100 mayors, unanimously supported a green schools resolution last week at its 75th annual meeting in Los Angeles. The resolution, introduced by Mayor T.M. Franklin Cownie of Des Moines and co-sponsored by 16 additional mayors, also urges Congress to provide funding of K-12 green school demonstration projects as well as support new research funding to better understand the environmental, economic and health benefits of green schools. Citing the urgent need for healthier and more productive places of learning, the mayors issued the resolution on behalf of the 55 million students and 5 million faculty and staff who spend their days in school buildings. “Studies show that children in green schools are healthier and more productive because of improved indoor air quality, lower levels of chemical emissions and a generous provision of natural day lighting,” said Mayor Cownie. “The benefit of cleaner indoor air quality – a key emphasis of green schools – have been linked […]
