Position Overview:

The Director of Training and Education will oversee the daily operations, strategic direction, and growth of BER’s training and education initiatives within the ProCert department. This role combines leadership, project management, curriculum development, and business development, ensuring that BER continues to deliver high-quality, impactful training programs to professionals in the building performance and energy efficiency industries.

This role specifically reports to the Executive Staff and works in cohesion with the Operations team at BER while providing oversight and assistance to production team leads. It is our mission to provide the best customer service in the industry and this position is pivotal to that success.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Managing daily operations for BERs training & education team which proposes, creates and delivers both online/on-demand as well as in person training to industry professionals. 
  • Coach, supervise and mentor of all current and future members of the training and education team, 
  • Create and maintain any departmental process documentation with the assistance of the training team, 
  • Project management for the training and education team including but not limited to ensuring the execution of all program deliverables by tracking progress against goals and deadlines, 
  • Serve as customer service, business development and sales lead for BER training & education services, 
  • Ensures the development, implementation, and continuous quality improvement of all training content, 
  • Work directly with other members of the Operations team and Executive staff to identify areas of concern, set priorities, identify innovative ways to address these areas and implement them within daily operations. 
  • Work in cohesion with IT and marketing staff to ensure the development and maintenance of systems used in training delivery by creating, updating and maintaining training LMS systems to guarantee seamless registration and ensure accurate functionality.  
  • Evaluate budgetary concerns for the training & education department and provide potential solutions to the Executive staff, 
  • Identify workflow issues and ascertain if additional staff are necessary, 
  • Participate in the hiring process for each supervised team. 
  • Serve as the BER representative for continuing the business presence within outside organizations, 
  • Attend relevant industry conferences and trade shows to help promote and advance the success of the training and education department as needed.  

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years management experience in a relevant field (ex. Building performance, energy efficiency, training development)
  • Certified HERS Rater, 2+ years’ experience conducting HERS Ratings preferred
  • Certified Quality Assurance Designee preferred
  • Ability to work from home in a productive way, working effectively and efficiently
  • High degree of computer literacy, including fluency in Ekotrope, REM/Rate, MS Windows, Office, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of building science, HVAC, construction, energy efficiency programs and industry standards preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with the tools of the trade (ex. blower door, duct blaster, IR, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience in customer service and support

Compensation and Location:

BER conducts the majority of its business in a virtual setting. Therefore, our employees enjoy the ability to work from the comfort of their home office. However, some travel may be required. Our Field Quality Assurance team members travel throughout the US performing field QA.

Compensation for all positions will be commensurate with experience. If selected for a second interview, candidates will be asked to provide work and personal references, as well as additional information, which may include a background check.
