Description

The Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District seeks qualified candidates to fill several associate level Environmental Scientist/Engineer (Associate Engineer -Air or Water Quality Control) positions in the District's Watershed Protection and Regulatory Divisions. These positions are regular, full-time positions, located in Riverside, California.

Responsibilities:

Depending upon the area of assignment, the Environmental Scientist/Engineer will be responsible for applying their science or engineering background towards:

  • Facilitating the District's mission of constructing and operating flood control, water conservation and water quality systems by coordinating the environmental permitting and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)/ National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) approval of these projects for the Regulatory Division; or
  • Supporting the District's role as the Principal Permittee for the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) program for the Watershed Protection Division.

Qualifications:

Highly qualified candidates will have graduated from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree in one of the following:

  • Civil, sanitary, chemical, geotechnical, agricultural, or environmental engineering;
  • Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology or other closely related field.

And have experience with one or more of the following:

  • Implementing and monitoring municipal NPDES programs;
  • Addressing requirements of the State and Federal Endangered Species Act;
  • Obtaining permits for projects under Section 1600 of the Fish and Game code or Section 404 and 401 of the federal Clean Water Act;
  • Preparing and reviewing CEQA or NEPA compliance documents; or
  • Preparing and reviewing engineering plans, specifications and calculations.
