LEED Program Overview:

Since the Canada Green Building Council's (CaGBC) inception in 2002, the LEED rating system has become the industry standard for environmental building design. The LEED rating system is designed to distinguish high-performance, environmentally efficient buildings and interiors. The rating system defines criteria specific to site selection, water & energy systems, materials & resources and indoor environmental quality. These criteria act as a guide for the development of spaces that have a reduced environmental impact and an enhanced indoor environment.

Position Overview:

This full-time position will report to Ecovert's Principals. This role will involve 2 areas of focus:

  1. LEED Project Manager, Specialist in Energy & Atmosphere
  2. Energy Modeler

Responsibilities:

LEED Project Manager:

  • Establish sustainable design goals and targeted LEED credits with the design team.
  • Be responsible for all phases of LEED projects: design, construction and certification.
  • Daily supervision of the project's design and construction stages: monitor and coordinate architectural, engineering and construction firms' documentation.
  • Manage multiple LEED projects and prepare LEED submission packages, including reviewing calculations, drawings, etc to ensure each credit is properly documented.
  • Develop and manage project plans, LEED letter templates, status reports, budgets and timelines ensuring goals are met and issues are highlighted early in the process.
  • Research products for energy efficiency performance, smart design and/or innovation.
  • Assist in creating in-house continuing education curriculum focusing on energy efficiency.
  • Contribute to a database of energy saving technologies and/or strategies.
  • Serve as a technical resource for internal and exterior clients.

Energy Modeler:

  • Lead integrated design workshops and develop innovative solutions to reduce the environmental impacts of new and existing buildings.
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed energy models using eQuest and EE4.
  • Work as part of a design team to provide insight on energy conservation measures, make recommendations for cost effective improvements to energy model results.
  • Prepare modeling reports and calculations for LEED submission.
  • Review design documents (plans, specifications, shop drawings) to ensure that the intended energy efficiency measures are being incorporated into the design.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Understanding of building systems, specifically HVAC.
  • Passion for the environment and green buildings.
  • Proficiency in energy modeling software tools such as EE4 is an asset.
  • LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) is an asset.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) & Adobe Creative Suites is an asset.
