Position Overview:

Resource Solutions Group is seeking Director level candidates to manage several emerging residential and commercial energy efficiency programs. A Director level position reports to the appropriate Vice President, requires contribution to business development, and involves profit/loss responsibility.

The Chicago-based Director will oversee residential and commercial programs and serve as the primary client and stakeholder liaison for the region. The Half Moon Bay-based Director will manage a suite of emerging programs requiring effective coordination in a team of project and technical staff.

Responsibilities: 

The essential responsibilities and duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Program Management:

  • Develops and reviews project proposals or plans across multiple contracts to determine timing, funding limitations, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources for various phases of project.
  • Manages project staff, providing guidance and review of work plans, assigned responsibilities and performance. Provides ongoing technical advice.
  • Develops and tracks budgets and performance metrics to ensure appropriate resource allocations relative to program goals. Accurately forecasts spending and revenues for suite of programs. Forecasts and monitors profitability.
  • Prepares timely, accurate, and substantive reports for management, client, and others.
  • Leads project team to develop marketing and program implementation strategies to achieve project goals and motivate customers to implement resource efficiency projects.
  • Coordinates with clients on contractual requirements and program integration with broader energy efficiency programs in the sector, in coordination with Vice President.
  • Oversees and participates in project implementation, including development of project deliverables, outreach, customer service, and client liaison. Develops strategies to meet customer and project needs through efficient use of staff and other resources.
  • Forges relationships with industry leaders and high-level client/customer contacts to implement cost-effective resource efficiency solutions. Represents RSG at strategic customer meetings, conferences, and industry events in a professional manner.
  • Performs program-level quality assurance-prioritizing which deliverables require review and at what level-and provides quality assurance leadership within the company. Ensures program delivery above client and customer expectations.

Leadership and Business Development:

  • Supervises and motivates staff, providing guidance and performance feedback, and identifying appropriate opportunities to foster professional development.
  • Participates in senior management team oversight of program changes, progress, staff performance, client satisfaction, business development, and other critical issues.
  • Identifies and brings in new opportunities and contracted work. Effectively promotes Resource Solutions Group services, develops proposal strategies, and leads proposal teams.
  • Presents posters, papers, and other speaking opportunities at conferences and other industry events.
  • Conducts high-level analysis of data, markets, and policies and develops appropriate recommendations for Resource Solutions Group and its clients and customers.
  • Takes a positive and active role in defining and maintaining the company culture, exhibits internal and industry leadership, and provides meaningful input into strategic planning initiatives.

Qualifications:

Competencies:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Able to target writing, including technical reports and proposals, to appropriate audience.
  • Excellent public speaking and meeting facilitation skills.
  • Excellent customer/client communication service values.
  • Able to articulate RSG's scope of services and value.
  • Expert in energy conservation and water conservation technologies and policies, with specific expertise in sectors or technologies relevant to RSG projects.
  • Exhibits internal and industry leadership in technical disciplines, market understanding, strategic planning, and quality assurance.

Education/Experience:

  • B.S. or B.A. mandatory; energy, environment, public policy, or technical field desired
  • M.S. or M.A. desired
  • A minimum of 12 years relevant experience mandatory; resource efficiency, or buildings related project management experience desired
  • Knowledgeable about energy efficiency technology and building science.

Location: Positions are available in both the San Francisco Bay area and Chicago
