Smart Grid Company eMeter Breaks Into Korean Market

Smart grid software company eMeter announced a partnership with Samsung that will introduce the company’s products to Korean utilities.

Samsung SDS has been an early Smart Grid supporter in the Asian market and sought out a global technology partner that could offer scalability, interoperability and an advanced interface. eMeter is currently demonstrating those qualities in the North American and European markets.

The two companies expect the partnership will contribute to the country’s goal of investing $21.6 billion between 2010-2030 and having 100% deployment of smart meters, based on the Korea Smart Grid Roadmap.

On April 29, Korea’s National Assembly passed a bill that establishes a country-wide plan to construct and promote smart grids.

"eMeter’s partnership with Samsung further extends eMeter’s partner ecosystem with access to AMI vendors and upstream technologies such as SAP and others that support the market and we look forward to building on the partnership throughout the rest of the Asian market," said Lisa Caswell, VP of World Wide Alliances at eMeter.
