Nissan Leaf Sells Out

Nissan (NSANF.PK) has sold out its first-year production run of the all-electric Leaf vehicle, according to an AFP story.

Chief executive Carlos Ghosn said the company has taken 13,000 US orders and 6,000 orders in Japan. All of the US orders were from individuals, while some of the Japanese orders were from municipal fleet operators.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in December.

The vehicle will go on sale in Europe in February 2011.

Nissan is 43% owned by French car company Renault (RNL.F). Ghosn said Renault has no immediate plans to return to the US market.
