SatCon Doubles Global Manufacturing Capacity

Satcon Technology Corporation (NASDAQ CM: SATC), a provider of utility scale distributed power solutions for the renewable energy market, announced it will expand global manufacturing capacity to over 600 megawatts (MW) in 2009 between its manufacturing facilities in Burlington, Ontario, Canada and Shenzhen, China.

The company also said it will partner with DB Schenker Logistics to provide global logistics and transportation services for all of Satcon’s global supply chain needs.

Satcon Technology Corporation designs and manufactures energy systems
for solar photovoltaic, stationary fuel cells, and energy storage
systems.

Satcon will partner with the DB Schenker Solar division to deliver global transportation services for its inverter operations located in Burlington, Ontario, Canada; Shenzhen, China; and Fremont, California. Satcon will also utilize DB Schenker in North America, Europe, and Asia to provide logistics and distribution services including final delivery to Satcon’s customer’s door through DB Schenker’s extensive land transport network.

Satcon claims to have the industry’s leading standard product lead times of 5-8 weeks across its entire product line.

Earlier this month, Satcon priced a public offering of 15,557,692 shares of its common stock at $1.30 per share.

In April, Satcon announced a strategic partnership to market the company’s solar power inverters with rooftop installations made by Solyndra. Solar inverters convert photovoltaic-produced electricity from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC), which can then be used in a facility’s electrical systems.
