What Is Obama's Next Step on Climate Change? – Editorial

The next logical step for the Obama administration to take in addressing climate change would be to address the Supreme Court’s 2007 ruling concerning the Clean Air Act, according to a New York Times editorial.

The court ordered the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to examine the effects of greenhouse gases and to regulate them if necessary.

Stephen Johnson, Mr. Bush’s EPA administrator began the examination process with an endangerment finding, only to be shut down by the White House. 

Although political opposition remains, new EPA administrator Lisa Jackson could restart the process to regulate emissions, and hope that Congress adds legislative support as well.
