Energias de Portugal S.A. (EDP), a Portuguese utility, is preparing for an IPO of its renewable energy unit, EDP Renovaveis S.L.
NEO Energia and Horizon Wind Energy LLC are subsidiaries of the group.
The IPO has been approved by the company’s board and plans to release more details next week.
Analysts see renewable energy as EDP’s main avenue for future growth.
Utility Iberdrola SA’s IPO was the biggest renewable energy IPO in history, which took place late in 2007.
