Novel Celebrates Australia's Wild Country

Moon Willow Press Publishes Another Environmental Fiction Novel

The phrase "suicide season" comes from Australia's Northern Territory's oppressively humid build-up to the annual monsoonal wet season.

The Suicide Season is a literary adventure about wildlife smuggling, inspired by author Jeremy Gadd's time spent on research trips in the remote areas of the Northern Territory and Kimberly regions of Australia. Dedicated to the birds and animals suffering and dying because of worldwide illegal trading of wildlife, the novel seeks the beauty of the wild and the redemption of main character Warren Yeats, as he squirms to break free from his previous shallow life during a worldwide stock market crash and divorce.

With dreams of becoming a romantic bush-walker, Yeats naively pares down his life's possessions in order to wander the Outback. Humorous and eye-opening, the novel pitches Yeats into one disaster after another until, suddenly, when you think he can take no more, he meets an unforgettable woman and her son. He can't forget this woman, even after he takes off into the heart of Australia's wild country and experiences the unique wonder of nature-meanwhile getting involved with his final folly.

Author Jeremy Gadd is an Australian author and poet. After graduating from the National Institute of Dramatic Art, he worked extensively in professional theatre in Australia and the United Kingdom before concentrating on his writing, which includes plays, the publication of novels, fifty short stories and poetry. He has also written dialogue for a dance performed by The Sydney Dance Company at the Sydney Opera House, and he collaborated on one of the first livre d' artistes to be produced in the United Kingdom since William Morris, a work that is now in rare book collections. He later earned Master of Arts with Honours and PhD degrees from the University of New England. He is a Writing Fellow of the Fellowship of Australian Writers (NSW).

Moon Willow Press is an independent, small publisher, located in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada, committed to helping sustain forests while celebrating the written word.
