Hudson Clean Energy Companies on the Move

Wind power developer Element Power announced that it has recently acquired a 1.4 gigawatts (GW) portfolio of wind development assets from EcoEnergy, for an undisclosed price.

Element Power, which is backed by Hudson Clean Energy Partners, has built a
North American portfolio of nearly 4 GW of wind and solar assets across more than 25 US states over the last year.

The company also has a portfolio of operating and development-stage wind
and solar assets in Europe and South America.

The company says its acquisitions put it in a strong position to build projects in 2010 and 2011.

Calisolar Acquires 6N Silicon

Calisolar, a maker of solar wafers and cells announced the acquisition of one of its silicon suppliers, Ontario-based 6N Silicon

Hudson Clean Energy Partners holds a major stake in Calisolar.

The acquisition was completed through a stock-for-stock transaction between the two companies. In addition, $22.5 million in funding was raised from existing Calisolar and 6N investors. The new funds will be used to increase capacity at the Sunnyvale, California cell manufacturing facility and expand silicon purification operations in Vaughan, Ontario. 6N Silicon will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Calisolar. 

Calisolar began commercial shipments of its solar cells in January 2010.

Other investors in Calisolar include Advanced Technology Ventures, Globespan Capital
Partners, Good Energies, Ventures West and Yaletown Ventures.
