Control4 Scores Strategic Agreement with Cisco

Control4, a company developing IP-based home control systems, announced that it has signed a strategic agreement with Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO) to deliver automation platforms for home energy deployments.

Financial terms were not disclosed. However, Cisco is leading an investment in Control4. Furthermore, Control4 will benefit from the integration of its technology into Cisco’s Service Delivery Platform (SDP) and the introduction of Cisco-branded Control4® products.

Additionally Control4 will become a key member of Cisco’s "ecosystem" in delivering specialized energy management applications for utility and residential customers.

Cisco’s Smart+Connected Communities projects will provide residents the ability to automate and control lighting, temperature, entertainment, communication, security and energy use. The projects incorporate Cisco’s Home Energy Management Solution.

Cisco will integrate Control4’s touchscreen EMS 100 interface as a branded Cisco product. The  EMS 100 platform already has been selected by NV Energy (NYSE: NVE), AEP (NYSE: AEP), OG&E, and other utilities to connect consumers to the smart grid.

Last month, ECOtality, Inc. (NASDAQ: ECTY) announced that it’s electric vehicle chargers will now integrate with Cisco’s Home Energy Management Solution (HEMS).
