Sustainability Intern

Superior Entertainment Center is a family-owned and operated entertainment center with 18 bowling lanes, a full-service restaurant and arcade.  We are looking for a sustainability intern to help us integrate the principles of sustainability into our business and set the framework for our first triple-bottom line report.

Responsibilities: 

An outline of the internship is as follows:

Get to know organization and create report:

• Define stakeholders
• Understand current processes and procedures
  o   Daily operations
  o   Food ordering and preparation
  o   Bowling experience
  o   Restaurant experience
  o   Arcade experience
  o   Flow of materials/allocation of resources
  o   Current sustainability efforts
• Gather input from owners, managers, and/or employees
• Define goals

Analyze industry best practices and create report:

• Restaurants
• Bowling centers
• Small businesses
• Organize by triple-bottom line

Work with owners and managers to determine specific areas to pursue.

Research specific options:

• Talk to current suppliers of food/goods
• Find new suppliers (local and/or online) of food/goods
• Consider changes to existing processes
• Explore new processes

Make recommendations for change and create report.

Educate relevant stakeholders:

• Create appropriate educational materials
• Determine additional education that may be needed to ensure success of initiative

Compensation: The internship is unpaid, but offers free bowing and meals
