Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) offers knowledge and experience to help our partners contribute to a healthy city region. This includes ecology and the study of water quality, natural habitats, plants, animals and more to help us identify environmental needs, set targets, and restore natural areas; sustainable community development to advise partners about land use, development proposals and construction, and environmental education to help students and community members appreciate their local environment and learn to look after it.
Position Overview:
Supervisor, Conservation Parks: Petticoat Creek Conservation Area & Glen Rouge Campground
Oversee operations of multiple facilities including capital projects, revenue generation, local partnerships, joint ventures and administration. Manage relationships with other service units and on-site partners. Provide excellent customer and client service. Occupational health and safety is a major responsibility of this position.

Responsibilities:
Example of Tasks:
- Lead the development and management of park initiatives that will facilitate public participation to enhance awareness towards a healthy environment and optimize revenue generation. Create and implement the annual business plan for the facility.
- Develop, implement and promote events, programs, and activities in support of the Business Plan and The Living City initiatives.
- Act as a resource to Assistant Supervisors.
- Ensure appropriate staffing consistent with organizational needs and within the constraints of TRCA's physical and financial resources. Lead the performance management of the team including, hiring the right resources, in or outsourcing, managing for successful outcomes and developing the skills of the staff.
- Undertake activities within the Community that enhance the visibility of TRCA.
- Represent TRCA on appropriate committees, networks and joint projects.
- Lead the compliance and implementation of all TRCA Policies and Procedures.
- Discover and implement new revenue generation, community partnerships and joint ventures
- Manage programs and meet financial capacity including budgetary levels in general revenues, government contributions and personal donations.
- Ensure all health and safety and human resource policies and procedures are known, complied with and implemented consistently.
- Seek new ideas and recommend process improvements and augmented lines of business to contribute to the Business Planning Process.
- Report timely progress in key areas of responsibility including maintenance, revenue generation and cost containment and seek corrective action when needed.
- Seek and implement best practices.
- Lead hiring, training (including but not limited to Health & Safety compliance), supervision and performance evaluation of seasonal and full time staff.
- Lead multi faceted programs as a subject matter expert, identify issues, seek creative alternatives, resolve problems and implement projects successfully.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 4 Year University Degree or equivalent in related fields including Business, Resource Management, Recreation or other related discipline;
- 7 years experience related to major tasks;
- Demonstrated ability to organize and implement projects;
- Strong team and leadership skills;
- Supervisory experience with multi generational team;
- Provincial Offenses Officer training an asset;
- Valid Ontario Driver's License;
- Certified Pool Operator's Certification an asset;
- Risk Management Training an asset;
- Possession of or ability to obtain the Operation of Small Water Systems correspondence course which will meet the requirement of "trained person" under the Ontario Regulation 170/03 (Ontario Drinking-Water Standards);
- Track record of successful implementation of projects and events;
- Track record of successful partnership and joint venture projects;
- Excellent communications skills in all modes;
- Excellent customer, stakeholder and client relationship management skills;
- Strong problem solving skills, collaboration and facilitation skills;
- Computer literate and familiar with project management reporting software systems
Compensation: Salary Range: $71,110 to $79,215
NOTE: Hiring at TRCA is contingent to the clearance of the Vulnerable Sector Screening. Candidates will be asked for a screening only if they have been selected as the leading candidate. TRCA will provide training, licensing and certification were required.
