Description
The Nature Conservancy, a leading International Non Profit organization, seeks a dynamic Director for its Amazon Conservation Program.
The Director functions as TNC senior manager and chief conservation strategist accountable for the Program's success and in maintaining strict adherence to organizational values.
Accountable for leading team efforts to produce measurable conservation results within and across the Amazon Basin in South America. Collaborates with other TNC units & partners to seek resources needed to address the conservation priorities & strategies established by TNC for the region: strengthening and consolidating national protected area systems, working with indigenous lands & organizations, & promoting conservation on private lands with a focus on commercial agriculture & ranching.
Participates in and supports planning activities, secures resources, builds capacity, liaises with partners, governmental and non-governmental, & manages a talented, multidisciplinary team spread over a number of TNC offices.
Represents TNC for audiences including major donors and foundations, government agencies and officials, private-sector and community leaders & other partners.
Manages and participates in conservation projects, operations and marketing, with significant responsibility for major gift fund-raising. Works closely with other TNC offices and conservation organizations on public policy issues relevant to the Amazon.
Requirements include:
Bachelor's degree and 5 years experience as a proven leader; extensive personnel and team management experience; expert knowledge of Amazon regional issues and institutions; strong English, Portuguese, & Spanish; experience in fundraising; strong writing skills.
