Position Overview

We are currently seeking two highly skilled leaders of people and processes to serve as our inaugural Vice President, States and Regions Program and Vice President, National Program.

Working in partnership with Energy Foundation (EF) leadership to coordinate and elevate the foundation’s multi-state and national efforts, the Vice Presidents will have the opportunity to tackle one of the world’s most pressing and ubiquitous challenges.

  • The Vice President, States and Regions Program (VP, States and Regions) will direct and manage the work of four regional-based U.S. teams running campaigns to secure policy progress and build public support in priority locations.
  • The Vice President, National Program (VP, National Program) will direct a complementary team of policy and communications experts developing strategy and supporting expert networks in the areas of transportation, buildings, clean power, energy efficiency, fossil energy, and clean energy markets.

Both VPs will focus on bringing nonprofit management expertise to implementing strategies developed by their teams, under the direction of the Senior Vice President of programs who is charged with integrating strategy across the organization.

The Venues team is a cross-disciplinary team of policy, communications, and campaign experts dedicated to advancing strong state and regional climate and clean energy policies. The Policy team works to deliver strategy and network support services to our issue-focused grantees and funding partners. And the Strategic Communications team develops powerful narrative and communications strategies designed to build support for our work regionally and nationwide.

Energy Foundation’s founding office is in San Francisco, CA, with regional offices in Raleigh, NC; Chicago, IL; Washington, DC; and Las Vegas, NV.

Responsibilities

The VP, States and Regions (also known as the Venues Team):

Will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of the States and Regions Program, a cross-disciplinary team of 25 policy, communications, and campaign professionals located in different locations across the U.S. The VP, States and Regions should possess the experience to successfully:

  • Implement the foundation’s strategic vision for the States and Regions Program
  • Grow a progressive culture around diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a focus on strengthening personnel management across the team
  • Lead the development of systems and operational processes that support program integration, planning, and execution

The VP, National Program:

is charged with leading the team of 15 professionals working to develop emerging strategies and expert networks in key issues areas to fulfill the organization’s mission. The VP, States and Regions should possess the experience to successfully:

  • Create and drive innovative strategy addressing the most pressing issues for a clean and equitable energy future
  • Collaborate comprehensively internally and externally to move strategies into successful campaigns
  • Build internal capacity for a more equitable and stronger organization
