TransitCenter, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation headquartered in New York City whose mission is to promote the use of transit in order to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality. TransitCenter developed tax-free transit benefits in 1987 and has since been a major advocate and operator of transit benefit services for thousands of employers and hundreds of thousands of employees across the nation.

TransitCenter also works with employers, transit operators, policy makers at the federal, state and local levels and with a variety of other partners to encourage the use of transit through information programs, and the development of incentives, new products and programs that makes the use of transit and other alternatives to driving more convenient and financially rewarding. Position Overview:

The Sustainability Programs Manager will develop and implement programs that fulfill TransitCenter's mission to help employers achieve sustainability and livable communities through the use of transit. You will work in the new Sustainability Department to identify, assess, plan, develop and implement programs that encourage employers, employees and others to increase their usage of public transit and other options to driving alone for commuting or other business purposes.

Will work with research & planning associate and other key departments in developing these programs including an education and research program and employer services component.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • BS and 5-10 years experience in program development and management in transportation or a related area
  • Proven ability to work in team based setting in dynamic and fast growing environment
  • Experience in public transit, environmental or related fields a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work well in a fast paced nonprofit environment
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Solid written and verbal communications skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Experience in working with large organizations at the decision making level
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office suite applications, including Excel, Power Point and Microsoft Project
