Position Overview 

Great Forest is hiring for a Sustainability Consultant to join our Mid Atlantic team and assist with developing and managing commercial recycling programs.

Our Mid Atlantic team manages recycling programs for over 275 commercial, residential, retail and mixed-use properties in DC, MD and VA, and is looking for a new team member to manage a portion of our portfolio.

Work hours are usually between 8:00am and 5:00pm, though some early evening work may be required. Candidates must have daily access to a smartphone and computer, and previous work experience or personal interest in the waste/recycling industry and/or sustainability is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting our customer service staff with resolving daily hauler-related issues.
  • Conducting recycling educational meetings and site visits with our client's tenants.
  • Assisting with gathering metrics data and disseminating diversion rate reports to clients.
  • Training janitorial porters to ensure proper disposal procedures are followed.
  • Informing clients about, and encouraging participation in, our Enevo (www.enevo.com) sensor program.
  • Reporting client successes to GF media staff, and assisting with drafting newsletter articles.

Compensation: Salary is $45,000 to $50,000/year, commensurate on candidate's qualifications and experience with recycling program development. There is also a staff bonus plan and the potential for participating in hours waste stream audits for additional income.
