MaxGen has two major lines of business. The first is the planning, design and construction of electric vehicle (EV) charging and battery energy storage infrastructure. MaxGen is a specialist in the market and serves many of major companies leading the electrification of passenger and fleet vehicles. The second line of business is comprehensive operations and maintenance services for solar, battery energy storage, and EV infrastructure owners and operators around the United States.

The company has a central operations center and a team of nation-wide highly-trained technicians to provide in-the-field O&M services for commercial, industrial, and utility customers and has a distinguished reputation for safety and performance.

Position Summary

The site supervisor is responsible for all aspects of solar farm operations, including personnel safety, oversee daily work activities, review work schedules, scheduling maintenances, maintaining project availability, the training and safety of all technicians and contractors, and communicating with the management team. In addition, the site supervisor is responsible for establishing site and individual goals, adhering to the site budget and act as role model in field environment to ensure all procedures are followed as required.

Responsibilities

Supervisor responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all safety aspects at the site, including Safety Walks in the field, but not limited to the orientation of new employees, site visitors and contractors.
  • Responsible for all Quality Control activity on site, performing Quality Control Assessments of work by Technicians and subcontractors.
  • Daily response to emails and phone calls from customers and crews.
  • Responsible for data collection, work order processing, and summary reports.
  • Responsible for providing general supervision & development of all employees at the site.
  • Use technical knowledge and experience to optimize site performance.
  • Determine daily schedules and assignments for work activities, Site Outages including execution.
  • Manage on site technicians, including contractors.
  • Ensure assigned team members perform to key metrics.
  • Oversee reactive and corrective maintenance projects.
  • Manage tool and part inventories.
  • Investigate accidents and injuries and prepare reports of findings.
  • Determine and manage maintenance schedules.
  • Communicate daily activities to the Director of Utility Operations and to customers as needed through daily, weekly, monthly reports.
  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner.
  • Provides guidance, training and direction to subordinates, including setting site and individual goals, and performance standards.
  • Create and complete Work Orders, Service Reports and Purchase Order Submission.
  • For Bulk Electric System (BES) generating facilities, monitor and operate generation projects in compliance with applicable NERC and GOP reliability standards while adhering to Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) cyber and physical security measures at NERC registered plants.
  • Act in the long-term interest of the customer.
  • All other job duties as assigned by Director of Utility Operations and/or his or her designee.
  • Participate in the development and execution of procedures and new product initiatives.
  • Demonstrate fluency with test equipment including OEM software applications.
  • Expedite the quick repair of any BOP, Substation, or other issue that falls within our area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Associates or a 4 year college degree with course work in solar generation systems or electrical theory, or equivalent Technical Certification/Training / Experience in the electrical, Solar O&M, or telecommunications fields.
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience performing the field technician responsibilities listed under ROC technician responsibilities in this job description.
  • Excellent communication skills needed to interact with utility, commercial and residential customers.
  • Familiarity with NERC GOP responsibilities.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate multiple crews.
  • Strong understanding of all aspects of solar PV design, installation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of NEC code, particularly Article 690.
  • Able to read and understand electrical prints and racking plans.
  • Ability to identify proper electrical workmanship practices.
  • Experience working with AC & DC electricity and grid intertie PV systems.
  • Experience with 3-Phase electrical systems.
  • Experience with DAS installation.
  • Excellent teamwork skills: foster a positive team environment through collaborative decision making.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with local area networks, wide area networks and ISP networks preferred.
  • Experience working collaboratively with people and initiatives affecting multiple organizations.
  • Ability to work with different management styles and work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines and demanding customers (internal and external).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written (English) communication skills.

Ideal Candidate will have:

  • 3-5 years' experience working on maintaining a solar facility.
  • 3-5 years' site planning experience including managing vendors, maintenance schedules, etc.
  • Outstanding follow-through and ability to deliver on-time results within tight deadlines.
  • Experience with troubleshooting local networks, wide area networks and ISP networks typically employed/installed for remote transmission from renewable energy production facilities.
  • Experience working collaboratively with people and initiatives affecting multiple organizations
  • Ability to read and understand solar plant drawings.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships at all levels of the organization and to influence positive outcomes.
  • Proficient within Microsoft environment: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Working Environment:

  • Under 10% travel.
  • Site Supervisors spend 60% of the time working in the field and 40% of the time is spent in the office environment utilizing computer, phones and general office equipment and supplies for reporting functions and record keeping.
  • Work in Extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to work alone or group environment.
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
  • Shift work.
  • Routine operation of a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Frequent oral and written communications.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holiday as required.
