ECL Environmental Solutions provides professional consulting services in environmental science, energy project development, and Aboriginal community development for projects in the natural resources, large scale infrastructure and the renewable energy sector. We support an array of projects at every stage, from initial concept and financial feasibility to project completion and beyond.
ECL is currently looking for a Senior Wildlife Biologist to join our dynamic team in BC.
Position Overview:

Staff at ECL work from their home office when not in the field. The vacant position is for British Columbia and therefore the successful candidate must reside in or be willing to relocate to BC. You will be required to spend extensive periods of time in the field, often in remote areas and be willing to travel throughout the Province at short notice.
Our staff include professionals with expertise in wildlife biology, terrestrial ecology, impact assessment, botany, marine and fresh water fisheries, aquatic invertebrates, geology, wind engineering, permitting, and GIS. We provide specialized expertise and solutions to environmental issues and problems for our clients. Our team members are involved in a variety of projects that include biophysical and environmental assessments, remediation, monitoring of environmental impacts and biophysical inventories.
Responsibilities:
You will manage a variety of projects, conducting biophysical assessments with a focus on wildlife and wildlife habitat, with particular emphasis on listed species. You will provide senior level project management, including budget control, staff supervision and training and client liaison. You will provide senior technical advice on wildlife related components, analyze data and review reports, assist with business development and proposals, and work with other multi-disciplinary teams.
You will also be expected to provide training and mentoring to junior staff members. Additional responsibility includes functioning as a client liaison and gaining awareness of client objectives. This is a position represents an excellent growth opportunity for the successful candidate.
Qualifications:
Minimum of B.Sc. in biology, with an emphasis on wildlife.
- A professional biologist designation (P. Biol, R.P.Bio.) or eligibility.
- Minimum of 5 years experience.
- Extensive experience and superior skills in conducting wildlife and wildlife habitat assessments.
- Knowledge and understanding of local ecosystems, particularly those of BC.
- Ecological field inventory experience.
- Demonstrated superior technical writing skills (reports and proposals).
- Proven success in participation and production of environmental assessments.
- Previous experience in environmental consulting and knowledge of current industry and related codes of practice and regulations (both provincial and federal) is required.
- An understanding of and the ability to install, monitor and analyze data from ultrasonic monitoring equipment such as SM2BAT would be ideal.
- Experience in conducting ornithological studies and radar surveys.
- Excellent communication and management skills are essential.
Compensation: Salary is negotiable and will be reflective of experience and academic qualifications.
