Description
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage a nature center, coordinate all
activities, and create and schedule new
activities.
- Working with the Rangers, develop relationships with school teachers and science/social studies coordinators at public and independent schools.
- Recruit and manage volunteers.
- Manage the daily operations of nature center
- Work with management and ensure proper
implementation of center policies and procedures.
- Recruit, train and supervise volunteers.
- Serve as liaison with environmental non-profits, community groups, local organizations and schools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent supervisory, administrative and communication skills.
- Experience planning and coordinating cultural events a plus.
- Interest in environmental programming and community outreach.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills
- Outgoing personality
- Must be flexible
- Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred
- Coursework/experience in natural science topics and/or education preferred
- Must have or obtain valid NYS driver’s license before hiring
