Position Overview

TRINITY Environmental is now hiring for a Natural Resources GIS Analyst in the Fort Rucker, AL area. Come work for a growing company with flexibility and great benefits!

The staff position in the DPW, Natural Resources Branch is required to provide GIS support for the integration of all Environmental and Natural Resources project planning and execution. The position requires a strong working knowledge and usage of ESRI, ARCGIS and SilvaAssist geodatabase software.

Responsibilities

  • The technician shall create, update and protect data layers, collect and analyze field data, digitize and rectify aerial photography and provide technical support for map production.
  • The technician shall also maintain a working knowledge of federal and state regulations as the Sikes Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, NEPA and be capable of providing field assistance and development support of the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan.
  • All data must be maintained in compliance with current SDSFIE and US ARMY standards.
  • On a daily basis, the technician will be in a forestry and wildlife management environment and shall be required to perform supporting field duties as needed to include prescribed burning, wildlife trapping, forestry cruising, wildlife surveys, forest inventory and other natural resources management operations.
  • Field data collection in the form of GPS points, survey data collection, forestry inventory, and other types of data are necessary in the performance of this job. Other field duties periodically involve assistance with prescribed burning, invasive species control, and other natural resources management activities.
  • Forestry GIS data is to be maintained by the technician in the SilvAssisst GIS geodatabase. Daily management activities are to be logged into this system and reports provided by the technician as required.
  • The GIS technician will interface digital GIS working operations and data management with other DOD Directorates as Range Division, DPW Real Property, DPW Engineering, and the USACE.

Qualifications

The Natural Resources GIS requirements are expanding and the technician should maintain a current working knowledge of all Natural Resources Management operations.

  • Minimum Experience Requirement: 3 + years preferred.
  • Minimum Education Level Required: Degree in GIS/Forestry Preferred
  • Security Clearance Requirement: Must be able to pass background check
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER and 8-hour updates are required. Can be obtained within the first 60 days of hire.
  • Company Physical and “Fit for Duty” statement is required.
  • Drug screening is required.
