Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time (40 hours per week) Land Conservation Specialist to assist with our efforts in statewide land conservation and stewardship initiatives, landowner cultivation, and community outreach & education. The Land Conservation Specialist will report to the Director of Land Conservation.

The Principle Functions of this role are:

  • Land Protection, Stewardship, Landowner Cultivation and Outreach.

The time commitment for this position is full-time (40 hours per week on average). Hours may be flexible depending on work load. Periodic evening and weekend events, and travel as required.

Note: Anticipated start date: January 2018

Responsibilities

Accountabilities:

  • Annually monitor conservation easements and fee land properties in accordance with Foundation and LTA standards;
  • Maintain and expand GIS database, and prepare project maps;
  • Assist the Director of Land Conservation with project management;
  • Identify prospective land conservation projects/landowners and cultivate landowner relationships.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, in natural resources management or related field;
  • Experience in GIS technology required;
  • Ability to relate well and establish rapport with diverse audiences;
  • Strong organizational skills, with demonstrable attention to detail, accuracy, and deadlines;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects;
  • Experience with real estate and/or conservation planning helpful, but not required;
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills;
  • Independent and self-motivated;
  • Familiarity with the geography, natural resources, and culture of Tennessee; and
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions.

Compensation: Salary range: starting at $32,500 DOE with additional benefits package (healthcare options available).
