Description
Iberdrola Renewables, an international clean energy development company headquartered in Radnor, PA, seeks candidates for an Estimator position.
The Estimator will develop, manage, plan, coordinate and assist with wind generation capital and operating costs estimating for Iberdrola Renewables. The Estimator will report directly to the regional Director of Technical Development.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare and maintain accurate pricing models, records and estimates for capital and operating budgets supporting new development opportunities and approved budgets and forecasts
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work, required contents of estimate and critical tasks to complete the project
- Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, materials, etc. Calculate statistical data necessary for preparing budgets and capital forecasts based on quantity take-offs, materials, labor, equipment, and specialty items
- Conduct project site visits with potential contractors and engineering firms
- Review cost reports from completed projects to establish standard cost data and set appropriate contingency levels
- Research historical data (productivity analysis reports) and compile summary reports to develop guidelines for future estimates
- Develop and manage master capital and operating estimating models using Excel
- Maintain files of working documents to support project estimates, including construction costs and equipment price lists
- Monitor price trends in key cost areas
- Monitor budget variances using Oracle costs accounting system
- Supports Iberdrola Renewables' business development through good working relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors and co-workers to strengthen company position, resolve issues, solicit business and formulate estimates
- Incorporate feedback from existing and new projects to keep cost database up to date
- Support a team of development professionals on new projects regarding conceptual design and operations
- Provide cost estimates to support the company's due diligence analysis of potential project acquisitions
- Display personal and professional ethics and complies with and enforces company policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other related degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3-5 years experience as an Estimator or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience in plant construction, production, or operations
- 2+ years experience with wind plant design and/or construction techniques, and/or operations
- 2+ years experience in electric generation project development and/or project management
- Demonstrated and advanced knowledge of construction market, estimating strategies, estimating techniques, cost control, and proper scheduling of purchases and work
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, cost coding systems.Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of management, supervision and administration
- Knowledge of budget preparation, implementation, and oversight
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, Oracle, Powerpoint and Primavera P3 or other scheduling software
- Experience with electronic estimating programs
- Ability to work accurately and quickly under pressure
- 10%-20% travel required.
Desired Qualifications:
- Technical competence and recent experience regarding wind generation
- Proven experience with advanced Excel spreadsheet development
- Past experience as an estimator for a large Engineering firm or Construction company
- Conversational fluency in Spanish for frequent communication with bi-lingual co-workers
