Job Overview:

CSG is currently seeking an Energy Advisor to work primarily in the Eugene, Oregon metro area and other areas served by the Energy Trust of Oregon, especially the Corvallis, Albany, and Salem areas.  Overnight travel for work may occasionally be required to the Bend, Grants Pass/Medford, Coos Bay, and Portland metro areas.  

The position will work in the Home Energy Savings Program sponsored by the Energy Trust of Oregon, reporting to the Field Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct visual walk-through inspections (Home Energy Reviews) in customers' homes which include:

  • Determine insulation levels in the home;   
  • Visual check of age and condition of HVAC equipment and ducts in the home;   
  • Visual check of windows and weather-stripping In the home,    
  • Install Instant Saving Measures (ISMs), such as compact fluorescent bulbs and hot water savings devices.   
  • Complete a Home Energy Review form to capture home data and track any ISMs that are installed;   
  • Recommend energy saving measures and priorities to homeowners.   
  • Discuss applicable Energy Trust incentives and loans, and state and federal tax credits available.    
  • Customer education on other Energy Trust programs such as appliances, solar, etc.

Conduct Multi-Family inspections and ISM installations for the Multi-Family program. 

  • Visually inspect work completed by Energy Trust Trade Allies to ensure work was done properly according to code and the Home Energy Savings specification manual.   
  • Install Instant Saving Measures (ISMs), such as compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) and hot water savings devices.   
  • Complete inspection forms to capture inspection data and track any ISMs that are installed;

Additional duties as assigned and determined by program needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Four year BA or BS degree.  Major in Building Materials, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Energy Management, or related field preferred.   
  • Applicants must have knowledge of and/or a strong interest in residential energy conservation.   
  • Experience or knowledge of residential construction and design, and building methods and materials preferred.   
  • Strong customer relationship skills and experience;   
  • Strong communication and presentation skills;   
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;   
  • Attention to detail - must be detail oriented.   
  • Capable of completing paperwork accurately and turning in on time;

Requirements:

  • Availability to work some evenings and Saturdays.   
  • Availability to travel within the state of Oregon, sometimes overnight.   
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills (i.e.: Word, Excel, Internet).   
  • Must have and maintain access to a home computer with current/recent versions of Microsoft Word and Excel installed, and high speed internet access.   
  • Must be capable of lifting and carrying boxes weighing up to 30lbs, as well as a six foot fiberglass ladder.     
  • Must have and maintain access to a reliable motor vehicle for daily business use, capable of storing/transporting a six foot ladder and all tools, equipment, and inventory necessary to conduct all job responsibilities.

This is a part time position to start, potentially transitioning to full time in the fall.  Mileage will be reimbursed at a set rate per mile.  Lodging and meal expenses will be reimbursed according to company policy.

Part time compensation package includes hourly pay commensurate with experience, paid holidays, 60% paid medical, 25% paid dental, plus employer matching retirement plan.

Full time compensation package includes a salary commensurate with experience, paid holidays, 80% paid medical, 50% paid dental, paid life & AD&D and paid STD & LTD insurance coverage, plus employer matching retirement plan.
