Founded in 1980, Land's Sake is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to responsible stewardship of suburban farmland and forests. By combining ecologically sound land management with experiential farm-based education, we provide a powerful model of how public open space can be effectively used and enjoyed by the community. Our efforts are centered on 3 themes:
- sustainable land management and open space preservation,
- farm-based education, and
- community building and care.
The themes of our educational work are agriculture, ecology and local history.
Position Overview:
We are looking for an energetic and knowledgeable individual to join our education staff to lead farm-based programming and manage a small staff. Individuals with a desire to inspire youth toward sustainable lifestyle choices will love working with kids at the farm or in the woods and will admire the variety of work the Land's Sake community shares.
Responsibilities:
- Lead farm-based programming for K - 12th grade school groups and the seasonal public program, Green Power for students in the 6th through 8th grades
- Work with teachers to develop new educational programming both on-site and at schools
- Supervise education staff and volunteers to ensure consistent, quality programming
- Expand family & adult program offerings
- Recruit and train education volunteers to teach programs
- Manage a small budget to attain branch financial goals
- Secure grant funding for future education endeavors
- Promote new relationships with local schools and their faculty through marketing and outreach
- Coordinate activities with other branch managers to ensure organization-wide efficiency
- Perform non-education tasks when needed.
Qualifications:
- B.A. or B.S. in Education, Environmental Science or a related field.
- 2-3 years teaching experience in a school or non-traditional setting
- A background in environmental education or farm-based education
- Curriculum development experience
- Previous coordination of a camp, afterschool program, or other youth program
- Experience supervising co-workers and/or volunteers
- Grant writing experience
- The ability to multi-task and work independently
- Must be physically able to work outdoors and willing to do so in bad weather if necessary
- Access to a car and valid driver's license
Compensation: Salary based on experience

- The opportunity to work and learn on an amazing and beautiful organic farm! We grow vegetables, flowers, and berries for a CSA and also run a farm stand.
