We provide comprehensive client services from project inception to completion, by delivering solutions that improve operations and compliance, build institutional capacity, reduce risk, save money, enhance security and help our clients make more informed decisions about their energy and infrastructure investments.

We work across three practices areas, energy, infrastructure and development, to support clients, such as, Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), Millennium Challenge Corporation, and the U.S. Agency for International Development. 

Position Overview

Green Powered Technology is seeking a Director of Sustainable Infrastructure to provide leadership, vision and management of GPTech’s Sustainable Energy practice. The position is located in the Washington, DC metro area, with international travel to client and project sites expected.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain technical and strategic leadership of the Engineering Services practice;
  • Manage, supervise, and guide Engineering Services staff, and support their professional development;
  • Identify, pursue, strategize, and lead the preparation of proposals in response to Architecture & Engineering opportunities in developing countries, including countries in and emerging from conflict;
  • Develop and lead marketing and positioning strategy;
  • Provide contract technical and administrative oversight and management, including financial and personnel management, ensuring quality and timely implementation:
  • Lead energy feasibility studies;
  • Travel regularly to provide technical assistance to projects, and to provide management and training support to project field staff, including for project startup and closeout; and
  • Represent Green Powered Technology to clients in the U.S. and developing countries.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in a relevant engineering discipline required;
  • Licensed Professional Engineer;
  • A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, including at least 5 years in an international development context;
  • At least seven 7 years of strong experience leading and managing people and teams in a matrix organization, with a record reflecting ability to effectively delegate, communicate with, and motivate staff;
  • Prior experience leading an engineering feasibility study;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills and prior successful experience in proposal development responding to USAID, Millennium Challenge Corporation or similar procurements;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the principles of engineering design, project engineering, project management, standards development and construction, installation, and commissioning;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure on multiple concurrent projects;
  • Strong knowledge of and direct experience with implementation of USAID- and/ or MCC-funded, and/or other multilateral development bank processes and projects;
  • Functional competence in French, Spanish, Arabic, or other language relevant to international development work is strongly preferred;
  • Willingness to travel to developing countries worldwide; and
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and obtain a security clearance.
