The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy (WPC) protects and restores exceptional places to provide our region with clean waters and healthy forests, wildlife and natural areas for the benefit of present and future generations. The Conservancy creates green spaces and gardens, contributing to the vitality of our cities and towns, and preserves Fallingwater, a symbol of people living in harmony with nature.
TreeVitalize works with WPC Staff and partners to develop and implement outreach efforts focused on urban forestry and serves and the main point of contact between the Western Pittsburgh Conservancy and the TreeVitalize Pittsburgh city and countyapplicants.
Position Overview:
WPC and TreeVitalize are currently seeking a Community Outreach Assisstant.
Responsibilities:
- Representing the TreeVitalize program at community meetings, workshops, orientation sessions and events;
- Managing TreeVitalize application process;
- Coordinating tree plantings, including ordering tools, supplies and materials, staffing and volunteer need determination, and planting follow up;
- Using GIS software to maintain project data and generate maps for presentations, reports, and planning; and
- Maintains other planting and project related data.
Qualifications:
- High proficiency with Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
- Strong interest in urban environmental work;
- Excellent communication skills; and
- Completion of a bachelor's degree in a related field or the equivalent.
