We envision a Texas free from pollution. As the largest environmental group in Texas organizing support through door-to-door canvassing, grassroots is both who we are and what we do.
Position Overview
Texas Campaign for the Environment is in need of passionate new voices to develop lobbying strength on environmental issues here in Houston!
If you're looking for a way to make a tangible impact, and create real change in your neighborhood (and the planet) this is the job for you! As a Community Organizer, you will be responsible for creating relationships and building our grassroots base of supporters within the city and its surrounding communities.
TCE is the largest environmental nonprofit in Texas, and the only one with a state-wide presence. Seriously, we visit all 181 state legislative districts!
Hours:
- Full-time: Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Part-time: minimum 3 weekdays, 2pm-10pm

Key Responsibilities
- Grassroots neighborhood canvassing
- Membership recruitment, fundraising and letter-writing campaigns
- Community outreach and coalition-building
- Identifying voters and volunteers
- Planning and participating in demonstrations and political actions
- Meeting with elected officials and other policy makers
Qualifications
- Strong verbal communication skills
Compensation
- Salary: $425.00 to $540.00 /week
