Position Summary

The Power and Energy Systems Department within the Energy and Environment Science & Technology (EES&T) Directorate at INL is seeking a mid-career staff member to enhance its clean energy integration, power systems development, and modeling capabilities.

EES&T's role and mission is to develop and advance clean, smart and secure energy systems crucial to national security, economic prosperity, and environmental sustainability. It embodies science and engineering functions that contribute enabling technologies for today's national energy portfolio. It also augments the country's technical ability to collaborate on and overcome critical energy and water challenges that already impact tomorrow's energy choices.

The Clean Energy Engineer position supports and integrates actions, activities, projects, & initiatives of the EES&T Directorate's Integrated Mission Plan and other INL research, development, demonstration, and deployment (RDD&D) efforts.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conceptualization, planning, coordination, implementation, and dissemination of projects within hydropower, wind, solar, and power systems integration programs
  • Prepare and contribute to technical reports, publications, and presentations at national technical meetings and project evaluations with program sponsors
  • Support INL's Power and Energy Systems Department leadership in meeting DOE/DOD/industry partner expectations, achievements and work, and internal reporting metrics
  • Lead research projects, drive technical capability development, and work with research sponsors

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Power Systems Engineering or related field and 3 years experience or PhD Degree plus and 2 years experience
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of relevant industry or U.S. Federal Government sponsors, i.e. clean energy developers, owners/operators, Department of Energy program offices, and/or Department of Defense
  • Proven technical understanding, research collaborations, and professional recognition in relevant field and can be demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications, patents, technical reports, or other forms of professional recognition
  • Proposal and project leadership experience and the ability to lead the design and implementation of research projects

Preferred Requirements:

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
