Chesapeake Wind & Solar LLC (CWS) is a fast growing, Maryland company, specializing in turnkey solar energy services for residential, commercial, and institutional clients in the Mid-Atlantic region. As one of the leading solar companies in the Mid-Atlantic region, CWS is currently seeking an energetic and innovative professional to join our executive leadership team. Position Description:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will report directly to the CEO and be a member of the executive management team. This individual's primary function will be to direct the fiscal operations of the company and to provide analyses, reports, forecasts, and recommendations for strategic growth. The CFO will partner with other senior management staff to create and implement long-range business plans and will share responsibility for bottom-line profitability. The CFO will also manage relationships with outside consultants related to finance and administrative functions including accounting, human resources, and benefits companies.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
· Manage all aspects of finances including, budget forecasting and tracking, accounts payable/receivable, cash flow, inventory management, and overall financial health of the company.
· Act as primary advisor to CEO and founding partners/owners on all strategic and operational fiscal matters.
· Research and stay current on national financing trends in rapidly changing solar energy market and make recommendations regarding impacts and opportunities for CWS.
· Develop and manage financial incentives packages including RECs, PPAs, accelerated depreciation, tax credits and local grants, and production tax credits.
· Assess capital needs and pursue avenues for securing necessary expansion resources.
· Continuously assess and improve upon company policies and procedures related to revenue enhancement, cost savings, contracts, and administrative processes.
Applicant Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be an MBA or Masters in Accounting with experience in taking a well-established and successful business to its next level as part of a dynamic and committed management team. This person will have a passion for solar energy and the environment and will place a high value on the practice of socially responsible business. Prior experience in the renewable energy industry is preferred, but not required.
Applicants must also have the following qualities and/or qualifications:
· Minimum 10-15 years demonstrated experience in fiscal management
· Ability to think strategically and to manage change
· Results oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for business results
· Team leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop talents and growth of staff members
· Experience in securing working capital
· Proven ability to develop effective business systems and infrastructure
· Desire to collaborate with others and to work hard toward a common goal
· Motivation to make a difference through promoting and developing solar energy as a significant solution to today's energy and environmental challenges
· Knowledge of and experience in mergers and acquisitions processes will be helpful · Prior experience in energy, construction, or engineering sectors will be a plus
