Chief Estimator, Renewable Energy

Position Summary

Bridgelink Engineering has an excellent career opportunity for an Estimator/ Chief Estimator with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the civil and mechanical world, preferably in the renewable energy industry.

Responsibilities for Chief Estimator

• Determine labor and construction equipment costs
• Prepare conceptual estimates
• Meet and maintain bidding and work schedules Analyze labor, material, and time requirements for a project
• Review project plans, requirements and specifications
• Present cost estimates to upper management
• Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing
• Prepare reports detailing all of the costs going into a project
• Input cost data into company database
• Notice differences between estimated cost and actual cost
• Review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates with Project Manager
• Secure all bid documents (bid forms and quote letters
• Prepare subcontractor bid list and submit drawings to subcontractor
• Participate in bid compilation on bid day
• Assist jobsite staff with estimates after bid award
• Look at customer requirements for a project
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned
• Maintain good relationship with suppliers and subcontractors Work with the sales team to prepare proposals

Qualifications 

• Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 3 years project engineering or related experience in the civil/ mechanical world
• Experience with Renewable Energy highly preferred
• Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings
• Ability to make accurate judgments and calculations
• Working knowledge of construction costs and principles
• Estimating experience (quantity takeoffs, purchasing accounting; engineering design knowledge and project management experience desirable)
• Familiarity with HCSS HeavyBid, Sage or Timberline
• Familiarity with Building Connected, SmartBid, Procore, etc.
