The The National Forest Foundation (NFF) is charted by Congress to work with communities and organizations to conserve and enhance the watersheds, wildlife habitat, wild places, and recreational opportunities across our 193-million-acre National Forest System. The NFF seeks to engage all Americans in this work.

Overview

National conservation organization seeks a regular, full-time California Program Forestry Supervisor – Tahoe Area. Position is responsible for reporting to the California Program Manager – Tahoe Area and works closely with other Tahoe Area program staff to lead programmatic work on the Tahoe National Forest; and is expected to work closely with USDA Forest Service staff as an integrated team member to provide leadership on USDA Forest Service-led timber and vegetation management projects.

This position location is flexible, but a community near the Tahoe National Forest and specifically the Tahoe National Forest Supervisors Office in Nevada City and/or Grass Valley is preferred, travel is required, and you must have reliable Internet access.

Responsibilities

The California Program Forestry Supervisor – Tahoe Area will be responsible for effectively coordinating project planning, contract development and procurement, and overseeing all aspects of NFF project management to ensure timely and efficient project implementation, while building strong relationships with local government and community leaders, develop new partnership collaborations, and identify new program development opportunities with federal and non-federal entities and more.

Qualifications

Must possess a Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree in forestry, natural resources conservation, or related field (or equivalent experience); a minimum of 5 years’ experience with proven results in conservation project management, facilitation, and partnership development; have a strong knowledge and experience in USDA Forest Service land management policies, procedures, and regulations, and a strong understanding of natural resource issues in California; ability to work independently with minimal oversight; ability to serve as a neutral, third-party facilitator; excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills and more.  

Compensation

  • Salary range $55,000-$65,000 range. Excellent compensation package.
