Position Overview

CALSTART is seeking a highly-motivated person to join our team as an Associate Project Manager for Marketing and Outreach.

The Associate Marketing & Outreach Project Manager will play an important role in supporting high-impact clean transportation projects. This includes the development and implementation of strategic marketing and outreach activities for Voucher Incentive Programs such as the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP), which is administered by CALSTART.

HVIP provides financial discounts to California fleets who purchase clean trucks and buses and advances the commercialization of new innovative technologies to help California reach its air quality goals. In this role, the Associate Project Manager for Marketing and Outreach will support industry engagement, marketing campaigns, communication development, and community outreach. The position will be based in the CALSTART solar-powered headquarters in Pasadena, California. 

Responsibilities

This APM will:

  • Support marketing and outreach programs to increase awareness, create brand recognition, collaborate with public and private partners, facilitate multiple methods for industry engagement, conduct community outreach and increase fleet/dealer engagement
  • Play a role in the planning and execution of industry engagement and outreach events and workshops including content development; manufacturer, dealer and fleet participation; promotional material development; logistics; sponsorship; vendor displays; and “ride and drives”   
  • Support a state campaign with multiple stakeholders to conduct community outreach in disadvantaged communities, evaluate key community partners, identify community needs, develop targeted outreach materials and engage local champions to support fleet participation
  • Support development of print collateral, including fact sheets, brochures, case studies, and pop-up banners; website content management; and lively ongoing engagement through social media
  • Manage HVIP calendar of events, select and prioritize participation in key industry events, and regularly update the HVIP website to report on event participation and upcoming outreach activities
  • Coordinate with HVIP outreach team to participate, present, and exhibit at events
  • Develop a robust network and database of stakeholders including fleets, dealerships, utilities, municipalities, air districts, community organizations, environmental organizations, and others

We are looking for…

  • A bachelor’s degree (preferably in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Journalism and/or Business Management)
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in outreach programs; marketing campaign development, industry/business engagement, community outreach, content and/or collateral development, event planning, social media or website development
  • A person who works well in a team environment, display personal initiative, thrives in public-engagement settings, and who is driven by a passion for the clean transportation industry
  • High proficiency in communications and project management across various stages of development and implementation (planning, execution, monitoring, and completion) with focus on collateral development, media campaigns, and online strategy
  • Skilled in Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with WordPress and other website development tools
  • Experience with Google Analytics and/or CRM
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or related project management software a plus
  • Experience with Photoshop and page design software such as Adobe InDesign a plus
