Position Overview 

Green Seal® is seeking a talented, motivated, and passionate professional to join an outstanding team of individuals who are committed to Green Seal’s mission as well as delivering excellent service to Green Seal’s customers. This is a remote position.
 
The Associate Product Sustainability Reviewer will manage certification review projects and conduct comprehensive conformance assessments of products and services to Green Seal’s leadership standards in categories including cleaning and facility care, building materials, paper, paints and coatings, and personal care. 
 

The ideal candidate will be excited about partnering with our customers to identify science-based sustainability leadership in the marketplace. They’ll be able to work independently on progressively more complex assignments, as well as collaboratively as a member of cross-functional project teams. Responsibilities will include collecting information from customers and chemical databases; assessing product and service conformance with technical and non-technical criteria; managing deadlines; and communicating findings to customers and colleagues. Primary Responsibilities
 
Manage certification review and compliance monitoring projects:
 
  • Manage customer document submission, confidential business information, project timelines, and customer expectations in support of product and service evaluations
  • Communicate Green Seal’s requirements to customers throughout the evaluation process
  • Research and address customer questions and technical issues as they arise
Conduct product and/or service evaluations:
 
  • Review product technical information for compliance to Green Seal standards, including:
    • Chemical formulations (data collection and analysis covering physical properties, environmental fate, toxicology and ecotoxicology)
    • Recycled fiber content, water and energy efficiency in paper production
    • Packaging (source reduction, recycled content, recyclability)
    • Performance/efficacy
  • Review product literature and marketing materials to ensure conformance with Green Seal standards and proper trademark usage
  • Review cleaning service policies, procedures, and records to assess conformance with Green Seal standards
  • Produce documentation packages demonstrating products’ and services’ conformance with each Green Seal requirement and maintain related records
Organizational support:
 
  • Communicate customer information to account managers and standard developers
  • Participate in continuously improving our systems, processes and tools for greater mission impact
  • Support other Green Seal strategic initiatives as assigned, including participation in cross-functional project teams engaged in development of new Green Seal programs
Requirements
 
Knowledge and Skills Required:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree with preference for the following fields: environment/sustainability, scientific,
  • engineering, technical/quantitative
  • Coursework in one or more of: chemistry, biology, environmental science, toxicology, statistics
  • Proficiency in algebraic concepts including weighted averages, ratios, and unit conversions
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel
  • Experience with database platforms
  • Preference for applicants with experience in the following domains: pulp and paper industry,
  • cleaning products, building materials, green building, green chemistry, sustainability reporting, product development
Compensation

  • Salary is $45k-$55k annually.
