Description

InfluenceMap is an independent think tank producing data-driven analysis on how business and finance are impacting the climate crises.

In the Analyst, Climate Change role you will be a key member of our teams assessing companies and financial institutions on climate change. You will receive full training in our research methods and how to effectively communicate our results. Our approach involves accuracy, consistency and great attention to detail. InfluenceMap’s work is in widespread use and we thus place great importance on the ability to communicate our content (both written and verbal) in an effective manner.

You will be working on either the LobbyMap or FinanceMap work streams. LobbyMap is the world’s leading platform measuring corporate climate policy engagement. It provides an independent, data-driven assessment of how the world’s largest companies and their industry associations are influencing climate policy and regulations. FinanceMap is platform which examines the financial sector through a climate lens. It provides holistic and evidence-based assessment of top line climate strategies, actual business activities (banking, underwriting, asset management) and sustainable finance policy engagement. Full details are available on our websites.

  • Salary $45-55K (depending on experience) + health plan and optional 401K
  • 25 days paid vacation / year + 7 Federal holidays
  • InfluenceMap’s US office is located in lower Manhattan, NY. We allow remote working so being based elsewhere in the US is possible. (East Coast base is preferred.)
  • These are full-time positions, starting as soon as possible

Role and Responsibilities

We currently have opportunities for analysts in both our LobbyMap and FinanceMap teams, both of which require strong analytical and research skills. The work involves applying unique methodologies for assessing and scoring real economy companies (LobbyMap) and financial institutions (FinanceMap) on climate performance. In either role, as an InfluenceMap team member, you will work closely with our central operations, communications and tech teams.

  • You will be trained in our approach and put this into practice, assessing companies or financial institutions. You are likely to then develop an area of specialism in terms of sector, policy area, geography, etc.
  • Once you have developed this specialism, you will work with our teams to communicate our content effectively (in writing and verbally) to our key stakeholders.
  • In time you will also be involved in helping to evolve the methodologies and strategies for FinanceMap and LobbyMap.

You will report to a Senior Analyst or Program Manager, and be fully integrated into our international teams. Many of our team members work remotely and we place great emphasis on tools and processes to ensure effective communication and team work. We will be recruiting in this instance for up to four analyst roles – likely to be three positions within our LobbyMap team and one in FinanceMap. Please indicate whether you have a particular interest in either the LobbyMap or FinanceMap positions, or wish to be considered for either.
