Position Overview

VHB’s South Portland, ME office is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist/Project Manager to join our growing Environmental practice. This position entails both field and office-related work in Maine with excellent growth opportunity within a vibrant and expanding office.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a team of professionals to conduct a wide array of natural resources-related studies and analysis for a multitude of environmental, land development and water resources projects
  • Manage natural resource surveys including, but not limited to, wetland delineations and functional assessments, vernal pool surveys, wildlife habitat evaluations and rare species surveys
  • Lead field projects
  • Prepare reports
  • Prepare state, federal, and local permitting applications

Qualifications

  • MS in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or related field
  • 5+ years of professional natural resources consulting experience
  • Field experience leading wetland delineations and vernal pool field surveys in Maine
  • Experience leading the preparation of Maine State, Federal and local permit applications
  • Experience performing rare plant or animal surveys a plus
  • This position may include night/weekend shifts and/or working in challenging weather conditions
