~ The Wildlife In Need Center is dedicated to wildlife rehabilitation and environmental education. WINC rehabilitates injured and orphaned wildlife and releases healthy animals back into their natural habitat. ~

WINC also delivers educational programming to area elementary schools and to residents of all ages including scout groups, civic groups and senior citizens. The overall message of the programs is to encourage an understanding and appreciation of Wisconsin wildlife and to provide practical, real life applications on the best way for humans to interact with wildlife.

Position Overview

Wildlife In Need Center seeks an Education Assistant & Scheduler. This is a part-time, hourly position $9-10.00 per hour based in experience. Position requires an average of 18 hours weekly.

Position Objectives:

  • Coordinate and schedule requested public education programs.
  • Coordinate and schedule education volunteers and education interns.
  • Report and record education department statistics and program/event information.

General Responsibilities

Scheduler is responsible to be the initial contact for education programs and events, add events to the education calendar, be the coordinator between wildlife educators (staff and volunteer) and public contacts & schedule education volunteers when needed.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Monitor email and phone contacts for requests for education programs, discuss program options and requesters specific details.
  • Coordinate with wildlife education staff and education volunteers to schedule presenter.
  • Track and schedule educational ambassadors within guidelines.
  • Discuss, collect, and track fees (monetary and donations in-kind) for programs.
  • Confirm educational programs.
  • Email thank you and survey link to program contact.
  • Maintain Google education calendar.
  • Gather and organize all necessary educational equipment, materials and educational ambassador travel containers for volunteers to take on educational booth events.
  • Recruit new education department volunteers.
  • Coordinate Leslie Kiehl Education Program Fund committee to approve/deny applications.
  • Track and report information for operations reports and development team.
  • Experience with common programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google calendar is needed, and photo or video editing applications is preferred.
  • Ensure that a pleasant and professional image of the organization is presented to the public.
  • Continuously contribute to a team environment.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Work with WINCs marketing and development team as they prepare grants and promotional materials, plan fundraising events, and hold fundraising events.
  • Participate and work at WINC’s fundraising events.
  • Responsible as part of a team to post to WINC social media sites and website.
  • Participate in the activities of the Education Committee.
  • Contribute to Wildlife In Need Centers newsletter TRACKS.
  • Occasionally assist in general office coverage of phones and admissions.
  • Other assignments as requested by DOO or ED.

Qualifications

Education & Training:

  • Minimum – High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred – Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, other related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Position needs excellent customer service skills, excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills, ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, excellent organizational skills, ability to be flexible with work hours and to be detail oriented.
