Position Overview

Environmental Specialist – Ecology and Environment, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Specialist for our West Palm Beach, Florida location. This position will be responsible for supporting projects for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Petroleum Restoration Program. Our successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in assessment and remediation of contaminated sites in Florida. 

Responsibilities

  • Project management, including financial, schedule, contractual, and technical management
  • Plan work to achieve client’s objectives and to meet established performance metrics
  • Coordinate with coworkers to implement solutions to project issues
  • Prepare, edit, and review site specific scopes of work, sampling plans, and detailed cost estimates 
  • Evaluate subcontractor quotes for drilling, laboratory, disposal, and other professional services
  • Confirm assessment strategies and analyze data, maps and summary tables to verify investigation data
  • Conduct site visits, assist with property access, and coordinate with local government officials and property owners
  • Enter and track project data and review and approve purchase requisitions for procurement of contaminated site cleanup services via My Florida Market Place 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical/Natural Science, Engineering, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of professional experience with 1-2 years of recent experience with site contamination assessment or remediation; experience with the FDEP Petroleum Restoration Program is a plus
  • Ability to organize a diverse and complicated work load requiring strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, including ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with E&E staff located in Tallahassee
  • Excellent technical writing ability
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize software, databases and applications to effectively manage project information, conduct site research and complete tasks. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is desired.  Familiarity with FDEP applications (Oculus and STCM) is a plus
  • Ability to travel to support business needs
