Adjunct Faculty, Environmental Science

~ Central Texas College (CTC) is a two-year, open admissions institution which provides educational opportunities to students locally, nationally and internationally. ~

The purpose of CTC, as set forth in Section 130 of the Texas Education Code, is to provide:

• Technical programs up to two years in length leading to associate degrees and/or certificates;
• Vocational programs leading directly to employment in semi-skilled and skilled operations;
• Freshman and sophomore level courses in arts and sciences;
• Continuing adult education programs for occupational upgrading or cultural enrichment;
• Compensatory education programs designed to fulfill the commitment of an admissions policy allowing the enrollment of disadvantaged students;
• A continuing program of counseling and guidance designed to assist students in achieving their individual educational goals;
• Workforce development programs designed to meet local and statewide needs;
• Adult literacy and other basic skills programs for adults; and
• Such other purposes as may be prescribed by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board or local governing boards in the best interest of postsecondary education in Texas.

Position Overview

CTC is currently seeking an Adjunct Faculty, Environmental Science to teach face to face lecture and/or lab courses as assigned by the Department Chair. Selected applicants will be interviewed for possible Part-time teaching assignments for the Science Department.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Education:

• Masters with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Environmental Science and/or related courses from a nationally, regionally, or identified at the State level accredited institution of higher education required.

Minimum Required Experience:

• Teaching experience at the secondary and/or postsecondary level in Science is preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to communicate with written and oral expertise in the English language.
• Ability to promote an effective environment for learning in lecture and lab experiences.
• Ability to teach students from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
• Familiarity with Blackboard preferred.

Other Information

• Work schedule may include daytime, evening and/or weekend hours.
• Teaching assignments(s) will depend on institutional needs.
