~ Signal Hill is a city in Los Angeles County, California located in the Greater Los Angeles area. ~

Situated on a hill, the city is an enclave completely surrounded by the city of Long Beach. Signal Hill was incorporated on April 22, 1924, roughly three years after oil was discovered there.

Position Overview

  • The City of Signal Hill has vacancies for two (2) Sustainable City Committee Members to serve a two (2) year term.
  • Note: These are volunteer positions.
  • Members of the Committee include City Council and Commission members as well as residents and business owners. 

Responsibilities

  • The Sustainable City Committee of the City of Signal Hill is welcoming applications for the role of Community Member.
  • Signal Hill is committed to striking a balance between economic growth, social responsibility, and environmental well-being by partnering with our neighbors, businesses, and the community to provide a healthy and enduring environment for future generations. 
  • The City Council has charged the Sustainable City Committee with developing and recommending a sustainability framework that promotes environmentally sound and financially practical objectives.
  • Meetings are held at 6:00 p.m. on the 1st Tuesday of February, May, July and October.

Qualifications

  • Each applicant shall have a demonstrated concern for, and desire to sustain and improve, the status of natural resources and the environment of the City. 
  • Applicants may have personal, volunteer, professional experience or scholarly expertise in environmental fields, geology, hydrology, land use planning, ecology, biology or in fields relating to the social, economic or environmental aspects of the City.
