Position Overview

Sol Systems is seeking a senior professional to serve as a Vice President, Fund Management and to lead our Sol Fund Management business in our Washington, DC headquarters. This position will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer to originate investment opportunities, scale existing infrastructure funds and build and support the team for continued success. The position is ideal for an experienced professional looking to join a growing company, work in an entrepreneurial environment and help build new infrastructure fund opportunities.

Location & Hours:

  • This position will be based at Farragut North in Washington, DC.
  • This position is full-time with a required 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

The VP of Fund Management will lead the fund management business unit within Sol. This will require a firm understanding of the business unit, growth potential and growth plans. This individual will also shape fundraising strategy around those needs, including the following:

Team Management:

  • Establish team’s business objectives and communicate to the team, securing feedback and buy-in;
  • Support team in developing resourcing plan and processes to achieve business objectives;
  • Allocate human resources across the team to ensure each part of the business is appropriately staffed;
  • Deliver expertise and training and create rigor in thought and execution;
  • Strengthen team identity, morale and spirit notwithstanding moments of pressure;
  • Proactively identify commercial gaps and risks in our team’s execution, and fill those gaps to ensure achievement of team’s business objectives;
  • Maintain relationship for the team with the CEO on achievement of business objectives, management decisions.

Capital Formation:

  • Assist the CEO in enhancing and building upon current LP relationships;
  • Work with the CEO to formulate a go-to-market strategy to diversify clientele;
  • Work with the CEO and others to create marketing materials, develop marketing strategy and then engage the market to secure additional capital partners for the Sol Fund Management platform;
  • Manage existing relationships and cultivate new relationships with diverse set of investors;
  • Establish new investment products, structures, and processes to position business unit for competitive success long-term within the solar industry.

Capital Deployment:

  • Help the team manage relationship with key capital partners to the team, specifically equity and tax equity investors;
  • Monitor competitor initiatives and keep abreast of industry developments in order to inform strategy;
  • Monitor trends relative to investor appetite to ensure Sol’s offerings are appropriately consistent with market demands;
  • Be available and responsive to client requests, and ensure their continued satisfaction with our services;
  • Proactively identify risks to the group’s critical relationships, and mitigate those risks;
  • Work with the team to manage deal flow from deal origination, through closing, execution, development, construction, operation and asset management.

Organizational Support:

  • Maintain strong relationships with leaders across the organization, specifically asset management, engineering, accounting, and project operations, and push for continuity across groups to ensure efficient execution of business objectives;
  • Oversee management of contacts and records of activity in company CRM software and establish tracking and report process to streamline communication;
  • Represent Business Unit priorities and resource needs on the executive team;
  • Identify synergy and benefits across Sol Business Units and Departments and assist and support Sol success as needed;
  • Work with the CEO to craft annual and quarterly strategy to grow and diversify the business unit and Sol.

Qualifications

Key Requirements:

  • 10-15 years in project finance transactional experience;
  • Expert in negotiating commercial terms of complex financial transactions to achieve appropriate alignment of incentives and risk;

Additional Valued Experience & Abilities:

  • Experience in partnership and corporate-level finance and strategic investing;
  • Preexisting network of institutional investors investing in real assets and infrastructure;
  • Advanced degree in finance/business or law or both;
  • Experienced in project finance and tax equity methodology, theory, modeling, and risks;
  • 10-15 years in energy project finance transactional experience;
  • Experience in tax equity structuring, including the partnership flip, sale leaseback and inverted lease.

Salary:

  • Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
