Position Overview

Be a part of something great! We are opening the new Canopy by Hilton in Minneapolis' historic Mill District. Located near US Bank Stadium and Minneapolis Commons, the Canopy will provide 183 luxury rooms and is scheduled to open February 2019 (position can start January 2019).

What are we looking for?

  • No prior housekeeping experience is required
  • We highly value experience in related hotel, customer service, and/or cleaning

Responsibilities

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • The Public Area Attendant will maintain the highest quality standards in all public areas, assisting and supporting all Housekeeping Associates in assigned areas, assisting with any special cleaning projects
  • Common Public Areas will include, but are not limited to inside and outside areas: restrooms, offices, public walkway, lobbies, fitness center, and pool areas
  • Maintain established cleaning/cleanliness procedures
  • Must be able to work independently & as part of a team
  • Clean multiple common areas in a timely and efficient manner
  • Practice safety standards at all times
  • Follow department standards as well as assist in implementing new procedures for continuous improvement
  • Ensure that restrooms are maintained and refreshed with supplies on a continuous basis
  • Remain alert, courteous and helpful to the guests and co-workers at all times
  • Ensure all storage areas are clean and well maintained
  • Maintain all cleaning equipment and supplies
  • Other tasks & duties as assigned based on business need

Customer Focus:

  • Works as a team player and interacts with all internal and external customers in a friendly/efficient manner
  • All guests must be treated in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction
  • Always strive to exceed guests’ expectations and meet brand standards

Accountability:

  • Produces required volume of work by planning, organizing, and prioritizing work duties
  • Adheres to Sherman Associates attendance policy, grooming and appearance standards, general work rules, and department procedures
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment, follows all procedures for guests and employee incidents and is knowledgeable for hotel emergency procedures
  • Attends all required department and hotel meetings

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • No prior housekeeping experience required; customer service experience in the hospitality industry strongly preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions in a multi-lingual environment
  • A passion for the mission, vision, and values of Sherman Associates
  • Must maintain a neat, clean , and well-groomed appearance
  • Schedule may vary due to the specific needs of the hotel
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws regarding health and safety services

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites
  • The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud
  • Exposure to/ handling of biological substances such as blood, urine, and vomit

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50-lbs. on a regular and continuing basis
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 200-lbs. on a regular and continuing basis
  • Requires frequent kneeling, squatting, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
